Major Developments Manager

Day rate: £550 per day
Contract position: Initially 6 months (strong view to extend)
Hybrid – Northern England (2 days on site per week)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Major Developments Manager to lead on complex planning applications and strategic development projects for a local authority.

Role Overview – Major Developments Manager:

  • Manage major planning applications and ensure compliance with legislation.
  • Lead negotiations on planning obligations (S106), EIA coordination, and design quality.
  • Advise Members and service Area Planning Panels and Regulatory Committees.
  • Oversee performance management and resource allocation within the Major Developments team.
  • Collaborate with regeneration, economic development, and building control teams.

Candidate Profile:

  • Proven experience in managing major planning applications and strategic sites.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Skilled in planning obligations, environmental assessment, and committee servicing.
  • Excellent understanding of planning law and local/national policy.

Qualifications:

  • MRTPI (Chartered Town Planner) or equivalent professional membership.
  • Extensive experience within development management, ideally in the public sector.
