I am currently working with a West Midlands based local authority in their search for an experienced Social Care Commissioning professional for 3-month initial interim contract to join their Commissioning team to support with their adult care home agenda.

This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to lead on the councils care home agenda for both residential and domiciliary care, as the council look to align vision and values in this area of adult social care.

Location: West Midlands Local Authority. Hybrid working.
Pay rate: £526 per day. Full time.
IR35 Status: Inside IR35

PLEASE NOTE: to be eligible for this position you must have past care home commissioning experience within a local authority setting.

Your duties as a Lead Commissioner:

  • Reporting to the Assistant Director, you will be accountable for delivery commissioning across the councils care home network within set out governance and quality frameworks. This will include all aspects of re-commissioning, contract and quality assurance activity of the councils adult older people care home services.
  • You will build and develop relationships with the local and regional care market, assessing local opportunities and understand local demand.
  • Develop engagement plans to go out to market to providers, planning accordingly to market changes and challenges.
  • Lead a team of commissioning and quality assurance staff, ensuring strategic development and implementation of quality services.

 Experience needed as a Commissioning Lead:

  • Previous experience of adult social care within a local authority setting. Specifically, within commissioning older people care home portfolios and agendas.
  • Proven ability to lead team, manage complex change and challenge provider performance.
  • Excellent communication skills as this role would require significant engagement with other local authorities, providers and leaders; as well as regular check-in’s with senior managers.
  • Be highly resilient.
  • Available references for the past 5 years of work.
