Interim Public Health Principal

Contract: 6 months (possible extension up to 12 months)
Rate: £600 per day (inclusive of expenses)
Location: London – Hybrid – office attendance for key meetings (approx. 4–6 days/month)
Start Date: 1 November 2025

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Public Health Principal to provide strategic leadership across the Council and with local and regional partners. The postholder will lead work across health improvement, health protection, and healthcare public health, with a particular focus on drug and alcohol and sexual health services.
Experience in commissioning 0–19 child public health services is desirable. You will join a small, flexible public health team and must be comfortable managing varied priorities.

About You

• Essential: Master’s in Public Health and at least 5 years’ strategic leadership experience in a local authority.
• Desirable: Faculty of Public Health membership and active CPD participation.
• Proven experience leading drug and alcohol and sexual health services.
• Self-starter, able to work independently and build effective partnerships.
