Independent Reviewing Officer / Child Protection Conference Chair
Initial 3-6 month interim contract
£38 per hour umbrella (full time 37 hours per week)
Midlands – Hybrid working 1-2 days onsite per month

Are you an experienced safeguarding specialist with previous experience in the role of IRO/CP Chair? My client is looking for a skilled Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) and Conference Chair.

This is a vital safeguarding role where you will provide independent oversight and ensure high standards of planning and review for children in care and children subject to child protection plans.

About your role as IRO/CP Chair:

  • Complete ICPCs and RCPCs.
  • Complete Child Looked After Reviews.
  • Complete Midpoint Reviews providing feedback on performance and escalate concerns where drift or delay occurs
  • Complete Quality Assurance work in line such as Rags
  • Provide robust challenge and oversight to care planning and decision-making
  • Ensure all reviews are child-focused, timely, and compliant with statutory guidance
  • Maintain independence in upholding children’s rights and promoting best outcomes
  • Contribute to service development and quality assurance upholding exemplary practice standards

 
Your required experience as an IRO/CP Chair:

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
  • Previous experience as an IROand/or Child Protection Conference Chair
  • Strong understanding of Working Together to Safeguard Childrenand IRO Handbook
  • Skilled in chairing complex meetings and managing sensitive discussions
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service & 5 years references available upon successful appointment
