Improvement Lead – Children with Disabilities

The Improvement Lead will play a pivotal role in driving urgent improvements within the Children with Disabilities team. This post is integral to ensuring statutory duties are delivered effectively, safeguarding standards are met, and high-quality assessments are completed to achieve the best outcomes for children and families.

Your Role as Improvement Lead:

  • Provide strong managerial oversight and governance to ensure compliance with safeguarding standards.
  • Deliver timely, high-quality assessments and support packages for children and families.
  • Oversee key service functions to strengthen compliance and improve efficiency, including financial package reviews.
  • Lead on improvement planning and delivery within a six-month timeframe, addressing known risks and statutory requirements.
  • Monitor and track performance through fortnightly improvement panels chaired by the Assistant Director, focusing on:
    • Re-allocation of children following cohort reviews.
    • Timeliness of visits, assessments, and reviews.
    • Quality of practice across all areas.
    • Timeliness of supervision and management oversight.
    • Throughput and caseload management.
    • Recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Develop and implement a robust, holistic action plan to achieve service improvements.

Your Previous Experience as Improvement Lead: To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Extensive experience in children’s social care, with a strong understanding of safeguarding and statutory duties.
  • Proven track record in service improvement and quality assurance within a local authority or trust setting.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage change and deliver improvements within tight timescales.
  • Strong communication and partnership-building skills.
