Are you an experienced Highways Asset Manager looking for an opportunity to lead an established and highly capable highways asset team during a critical period of investment and transformation? Reporting directly into the Head of Infrastructure and Capital Schemes, you will provide both strategic leadership and technical expertise across a large and diverse highways network, helping to shape long-term asset investment decisions and drive service excellence. This is an excellent opportunity to make an immediate impact whilst leading a team responsible for carriageways, footways, drainage, asset data and traffic-related services.

Your Role as Highways Asset Manager:

  • Lead and develop a team of experienced managers and asset management professionals
    • Drive asset management strategy, lifecycle planning and investment prioritisation across highways assets
    • Oversee carriageway and footway maintenance programmes using robust asset condition data
    • Provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders and support key investment decisions
    • Manage budgets, performance reporting and continuous service improvement initiatives

Your Previous Experience as Highways Asset Manager:

  • Strong highways asset management background within a local authority or comparable infrastructure environment
    • Significant experience managing carriageway and footway assets and developing sustainable investment plans
    • Proven leadership experience managing professional and technical teams
    • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline, with chartered status desirable
    • Able to balance technical credibility with strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills

This role will suit an individual who can quickly establish credibility, set the tone for the team and provide the leadership required to maintain momentum across a busy asset management function.
