Looking for a role where you can influence the future of Children in Care services and drive meaningful, lasting change? As Head of Service – Permanence, you will take ownership of a high-profile service area with responsibility for permanence planning, service improvement, safeguarding oversight and strategic leadership across children’s social care services. This is an opportunity to work alongside senior leaders and partner agencies, shaping outcomes for children and young people while leading high-performing teams through a period of continued improvement and innovation.

Your Role as Head of Service – Permanence
• Lead the delivery of an ambitious Permanence Strategy and drive innovative approaches to permanence planning and reunification.
• Provide strategic oversight of Children in Care, permanence services and complex, high-risk cases.
• Drive service improvement, performance management and quality assurance across statutory services.
• Build strong partnerships with key stakeholders across health, education, safeguarding and wider community services.
• Lead operational managers, support workforce development and take responsibility for budgets and resources.

Your Previous Experience as Head of Service – Permanence

• Significant senior leadership experience within Children’s Social Care services.
• Proven track record leading Children in Care and Permanence Services.
• Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and relevant statutory frameworks.
• Experience managing complex safeguarding arrangements, large teams and service budgets.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders, deliver transformation and improve outcomes for children and young people.
