Job Title: Head of Adult Provider Services
Contract Length: 6-month initial interim contract
Location: West Midlands based local authority
Working arrangements: Hybrid working, two days a week on-site.
Pay rate: £550 – £640 per day
IR35 Status: Inside of IR35
This local authority is going through a period of transition and is seeking senior strategic support to strengthen and embed high‑quality practice across their Adult Social Care Provider Services.

Your duties as a Head of Service:
- Lead on the strategic and operational delivery of the council’s providers services, specifically across the council’s community reablement, learning disabilities short breaks and day services, shared lives service and sensory impairment service.
- Reporting to the Director of Adult Social Care, you will play a key role in the adults senior management team as they look to provide excellent outcomes for local citizens.
- Additional priorities for this role include contributing to council transformation and savings programmes, lead on CQC compliance for internal provision, work on integrated partnerships with the NHS on admission avoidance, develop the councils Shared Lives service to reduce reliance on 24hr care placements, as well as develop Dementia related services.
- You will be directly responsible for 3 Senior Managers, with overall staffing responsibility of 200 FTEs across provider services, with a budget of £9.9m.
Experience needed as a Head of Service:
- Have experience in leading within adult social care at this level within a local authority setting, specifically within provider service areas.
- Have in-depth knowledge and experience in CQC regulatory compliance, as well as understanding of relevant statutory frameworks and their legislations. Including the Mental Health Act, the Mental Capacity Act and the Care Act.
- Have experience in leading services as well as contributing to the successful delivery of transformation and improvement agendas.
- Be able to demonstrate effective communication skills, with the ability to lead teams both operationally and strategically.
