Hybrid (Initial 2-3 days onsite ) Full time position

£450-£550per day (umbrella) full time

We’re seeking an Head of Finance to join our client where this pivotal role offers the opportunity to shape financial strategy across a diverse portfolio of services, supporting gross revenue budgets ranging from £65m to £750m.
About your duties as the Head Accountant (Adults Social Care):
- Provide high-level financial advice to Heads of Service, Chief Officers, Members, and external partners.
- Lead on financial planning, budgeting, monitoring, and year-end closure.
- Drive organisational change and support transformation across services.
- Influence budget allocation and strategic direction without direct budget ownership.
- Driving commitments to the council’s ongoing emphasis on commissioning, contracting, working in partnership (including joint ventures), collaboration and acting as accountable body. You will be required to manage the ongoing financial requirements of such arrangements. Together ensuring that robust financial processes are in place from the outset.
- Manage the detailed work of the annual budget preparation process, budget monitoring and year end closing down processes.
- Support commissioning, contracting, partnerships, and joint ventures with robust financial oversight.
Your experience needed as the Head Accountant (Adults Social Care):
- Proven experience in Local Government and Adult Social Care finance.
- Qualified Accountant, e.g. CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA or other equivalent qualifications/experience.
- Strong strategic and analytical skills with a track record of delivering efficiencies.
- Demonstrate the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to influence at all levels.
- Ability to manage change and support service transformation.
- Working knowledge of the Code of Practice on Local Authority Accounting, Service Reporting Code of Practice and International Financial Reporting Standards (IGAAP)
- A detailed knowledge of local authority accounting regulations and codes of Practice
- Comfortable working in a hybrid environment with flexibility.
