Reporting into the Assistant Director for Waste, you will be responsible the delivery and performance of the council’s joint venture. This partnership provides essential services including waste collection, street cleansing, grounds maintenance, and waste transfer operations. In this role you will Lead and manage the performance of the joint venture, ensuring services meet contractual specifications
 
Your role as Interim Environmental Services Manager:

  • Oversee statutory compliance, financial accountability, and health & safety risks
  • Monitor and analyse service performance data, conduct site inspections, and manage a £5m budget
  • Investigate and resolve service requests, complaints, and resident enquiries
  • Provide expert advice on current and future environmental service arrangements
  • Represent the Council in meetings with partners, stakeholders, and elected members
  • Support the ongoing review and transformation of waste and cleansing services across the region

 
Your previous experience as Interim Environmental Services Manager:

  • Proven experience in contract management and environmental services, ideally within a local authority
  • Strong knowledge of waste management legislation and best practices
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to manage budgets, interpret data, and lead service improvements
  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience in waste management, environmental studies, or civil engineering
