Building Surveyor – Legal Disrepair

Hybrid role
£300 per day (Inside IR35)
3-month initial contract

Reporting into the Legal Repairs Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing a varied caseload of legal disrepair claims, party wall awards, repair diagnostics, and referrals from the wider repairs team. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical knowledge, good organisational skills, and the ability to work independently.

Your role as Legal Repairs Surveyor: 

  • Manage live legal disrepair cases from initial inspection through to post-works review
    • Handle party wall awards, repair diagnostics, and referrals from repairs teams
    • Carry out essential repairs and mitigate legal liability wherever possible
    • Provide technical advice and training to colleagues in the Technical Quality team
    • Occasionally give expert evidence in court
    • Build strong working relationships with lawyers in the Chief Executive’s Directorate and other repair teams
    • Ensure all technical aspects of cases are dealt with efficiently and effectively

Your previous experience as Legal Repairs Surveyor: 

  • Experience managing legal disrepair cases
    • Good understanding of damp, mould, and structural issues
    • Ideally hold a surveying qualification (not essential)
    • Social housing experience is a bonus
    • Organised and proactive — able to manage your own calendar and caseload
    • Confident working largely from the office, with access to pool cars for site visits
