We are working with a London local authority who are expanding their Building Control team to manage an increased volume of Class 2 applications and ensure continued compliance with the Building Act and current regulations.

You will be responsible for managing a professional caseload of Class 2 projects (2D through 2E), including new applications, regularisations, and reversions, ensuring full compliance with the Building Act 1984 and current Building Regulations.

About the Senior Building Control Inspector role:

• Conduct technical plan appraisals and site inspections, maintaining meticulous records and progressing applications toward completion in line with the Council’s scheme of delegation.
• Execute remedial and enforcement actions under the supervision of senior Registered Building Inspectors to uphold technical standards and allied legislation.
• Provide vital support to Team Managers and Principal Inspectors while supervising Class 1 Inspectors, delegating tasks such as plan checking and inspections within your limits of competence.

Your previous experience as a Senior Building Control Inspector:

• Registration as a Building Inspector at a minimum of Class 2D (with the ability to work across Class 2B–2F under supervision).
• Memberships – relevant professional body (RICS, CABE, CIOB, or similar)
• Proven track record in making professional recommendations for completion certificates and managing complex regulatory documentation.
• Extensive experience of Building Regulations, Legislation, practice and Construction.
• Relevant technical background, ideally with experience in Local Authority frameworks and the Building Act 1984.
