As Building Control Interim Lead, you will step into a highly visible leadership role, reporting directly into the Assistant Director and taking full ownership of a critical statutory service at a time of change and opportunity. You will be trusted to stabilise, lead and enhance performance, while shaping a modern, commercially aware Building Control function that delivers value, compliance and confidence.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams, influencing senior stakeholders and ensuring the service meets both current and future legislative requirements. You will have the autonomy to make decisions, improve systems and leave a lasting impact, while working within a supportive senior leadership structure that values pace, clarity and results. This Building Control Interim Lead assignment is ideal if you enjoy interim challenge, visible leadership and outcomes that matter.

Your Role as Building Control Interim Lead:

• Lead and inspire Building Control services with full accountability for delivery, performance and compliance
• Drive service improvement, transformation and digital innovation to enhance customer experience
• Provide expert professional advice on Building Safety, statutory compliance and regulatory risk
• Own budget management, forecasting and income generation, ensuring value for money
• Build strong stakeholder relationships across partners, members and senior leaders

Your previous experience as a Building Control Interim Lead:

• Senior-level leadership within Building Control or Building Surveying services
• Strong understanding of public sector and local authority environments
• Proven success delivering change, improvement and performance turnaround
• Registered Building Inspector status with BSR and relevant professional membership
• Confident managing teams, risk, budgets and complex stakeholder landscapes
