This is an excellent opportunity for a Specialist Public Health Practitioner reporting to a Consultant in Public Health, with responsibility for leading specialist programmes across health improvement, health protection and healthcare public health. You’ll manage a small team, drive commissioning activity and work across a broad network of partners to tackle health inequalities and improve outcomes for local communities.

As a Specialist Public Health Practitioner, you will play a key strategic role, influencing policy, shaping service delivery and ensuring public health priorities are embedded across organisations. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Specialist Public Health Practitioner who enjoys leading change, building partnerships and delivering impactful programmes across complex systems.

Your Role as Specialist Public Health Practitioner:

  • Lead specialist public health programmes across the life course, including prevention, health improvement and health protection initiatives
  • Deliver commissioning, service transformation and contract management projects to improve quality, outcomes and value for money
  • Conduct Health Needs Assessments, support JSNA development and utilise intelligence to tackle health inequalities
  • Build strong partnerships across health, social care, community and voluntary sector organisations to influence strategic priorities
  • Manage projects, evaluate outcomes and ensure robust performance monitoring across commissioned services

Your Previous Experience as a Specialist Public Health Practitioner:

  • Significant experience delivering public health programmes within a local authority, NHS or wider public sector environment
  • Strong knowledge of health improvement, health protection, healthcare public health and reducing health inequalities
  • Experience leading commissioning, service redesign, transformation programmes and stakeholder engagement activity
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and work effectively across organisational boundaries
  • Relevant public health qualification and commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice
