3-6 month interim contract to start ASAP
South West
£45.50-£47.50 per hour
Inside IR35 (via umbrella)
Hybrid working – 1 day per week in the office

Are you passionate about safeguarding children and ensuring their voices are heard? We are seeking an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join a dedicated team. This is a pivotal role in driving best practice, promoting children’s rights, and ensuring robust care and safety planning for the most vulnerable in the community.

Your role as Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO):

• Lead and chair statutory reviews for Children We Care For, ensuring compliance and quality
• Drive performance oversight and challenge practice where standards fall short
• Manage a diverse caseload during a period of team transition
• Work independently across placements, maintaining child-centred outcomes
• Collaborate across teams, attending weekly in-person meetings

Your previous experience as Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO):

• Proven experience at management level within children’s services
• Must be a registered IRO with SWE – not a social worker
• Strong understanding of legislation, safeguarding and reviewing processes
• Demonstrable ability to challenge, influence and improve practice
• Experience managing complex caseloads in a local authority setting
