As Ofsted Residential Children’s Homes Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Home Manager, helping to lead a dedicated residential team and ensuring the home consistently meets and exceeds regulatory expectations. You will be trusted to deputise when required, influence practice on the floor, and be a visible, positive role model for staff and young people alike. This is a role with real autonomy, real accountability, and real impact.

You will play a key part in shaping a safe, nurturing environment where children and young people can thrive, while balancing operational delivery, compliance, and people leadership. If you are motivated by quality, standards, and outcomes, this is a role designed to stretch and progress you.

Your role as Ofsted Residential Children’s Homes Deputy Manager:

  • Lead safeguarding and compliance, ensuring Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards are embedded in daily practice
  • Deputise confidently for the Home Manager, including Ofsted inspections, Regulation 44 visits and operational decision-making
  • Drive high-quality care planning, overseeing risk management plans, key work, education logs and daily recordings
  • Develop and support staff, delivering supervisions, appraisals and reflective practice through PeopleHR systems
  • Maintain a safe, well-run home, overseeing health & safety, audits, rotas, payroll checks and training compliance

Your previous experience as an Ofsted Residential Children’s Homes Deputy Manager:

  • Proven leadership experience within an Ofsted-regulated children’s residential setting
  • Strong working knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations, safeguarding and inspection frameworks
  • Confidence managing staff performance, supervision, appraisals and conflict resolution
  • Excellent organisational skills, with experience overseeing audits, compliance and reporting systems
  • A child-centred, values-led approach, promoting equality, inclusion and positive outcomes

You will be someone who leads by example, communicates clearly, and remains calm and solution focused in a demanding environment. You understand the importance of consistency, accountability, and reflective practice, and you know how to bring a team with you.
