Practice Auditor – Children’s Social Care

This is a high‑impact opportunity to step into a critical improvement role at pace. As a Practice Auditor – Children’s Social Care , you will work at the heart of statutory services, reporting directly into senior leadership and playing a pivotal role in strengthening practice, improving consistency and supporting Ofsted readiness. With rising caseloads and increased scrutiny, your expertise will directly influence outcomes for children and young people while shaping frontline practice through robust, evidence‑led audit activity. You will be trusted to work autonomously, challenge constructively and add value from day one. This is a role for someone who knows what Good looks like, can evidence it clearly and can translate findings into meaningful improvement.  

Your role as Practice Auditor – Children’s Social Care: 

  • Audit & evaluation of case files to test quality, compliance and impact against statutory guidance and Ofsted expectations
  • Practice improvement through clear, actionable recommendations that strengthen assessments, plans and decision‑making
  • Quality assurance of systems usage, ensuring mandatory actions, tools and pathways are effective and fit for purpose
  • Escalation & assurance using agreed frameworks to highlight risk, drift and examples of best practice
  • Collaborative working with Heads of Service to ensure timely review of cases and shared ownership of improvement

Your experience as Practice Auditor – Children’s Social Care: 

  • Proven audit expertise, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience reviewing practice and driving improvement at pace
  • Registered with Social Care England, with a strong grasp of statutory responsibilities
  • Performance‑focused mindset, with confidence in assessing quality across high‑pressure statutory services
  • Strong analytical skills, comfortable working with data, reports and complex case files
  • Sound safeguarding knowledge, including thresholds, risk management and decision‑making
  • Recent references covering your last 2 years of roles
