Senior Contracts and Quality Commissioning Manager
3–6 month interim contract
£450–£500 per day umbrella

This is a pivotal opportunity for an experienced Senior Contracts and Quality Commissioning Manager to step into a highly visible role at a critical time. Reporting directly into the Head of Commissioning, you will take ownership of high‑value Children’s Social Care contracts before transitioning into Public Health commissioning and wider social care needs.

With contracts totalling £450k–£500k, this role places you right at the heart of quality, assurance and delivery, while supporting a team that needs confident, compassionate leadership.  

As Senior Contracts and Quality Commissioner, you will stabilise and strengthen contract management arrangements, work closely with procurement colleagues and senior stakeholders, and ensure quality frameworks are robust, proportionate and fit for purpose. This is a full‑time role, ideal for someone with resilience, emotional intelligence and the credibility to operate at pace in a sensitive environment.

Your role as Senior Contracts and Quality Commissioning Manager:

  • Lead commissioning activity across Children’s Services, Adults Services and Public Health, with a strong emphasis on Children’s Services
  • Own contract placement and mobilisation, working in partnership with Procurement and senior stakeholders from bid writing to engagement and re-tendering
  • Design and implement a contract management and quality framework that drives assurance and improvement
  • Oversee performance, quality and reporting, ensuring contracts deliver outcomes and value for money
  • Provide visible leadership, supporting and steadying a team through a period of change

Your experience as Senior Contracts and Quality Commissioning Manager:

  • Proven background in contracts, quality and commissioning within Children’s Services and/or Public Health at a manager level in a local authority setting
  • Local Authority experience essential, with confidence stepping into fast‑moving interim role
  • Strong bid writing and tendering experience, supporting procurement through complex processes
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to influence at Head of Service and Director level
  • Strong acumen of commissioned services, empathetic leadership style, with the ability to support teams under pressure offering expert guidance and advice
