Join a forward‑thinking local authority supporting a major neighbourhood transformation programme. As an Asset Surveyor, you will play a key role in reviewing, verifying, and assessing community and neighbourhood assets – ensuring decisions around consolidation, re‑provision, community use, or alternative models are underpinned by robust evidence and clear estate intelligence.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced public‑sector property professional to apply technical expertise, shape strategic decisions, and support long‑term estate sustainability.

Your Responsibilities as an Asset Surveyor:

  • Lead the review and verification of community and neighbourhood assets, including buildings, land, and community facilities.
  • Assess ownership, tenure, condition, suitability, usage, and operational performance.
  • Validate and update asset data, ensuring accuracy across council systems.
  • Conduct site inspections and provide low‑level condition and suitability assessments.
  • Analyse utilisation, occupancy, and costs to identify inefficiencies or opportunities.
  • Produce evidence‑based option appraisals to inform decisions on retention, consolidation, re‑provision, disposal, or community use.
  • Provide professional property advice to internal stakeholders and governance groups.
  • Work collaboratively with Neighbourhoods, Communities, Legal, Finance, and FM teams.
  • Prepare clear reports and briefings for senior officers and contribute to programme governance.

Your Previous Experience as Asset Surveyor:

  • Strong background in property, estates, or asset management within the public sector.
  • Experience undertaking asset reviews, surveys, inspections, and data verification.
  • Proven ability to develop structured option appraisals and evidence-based recommendations.
  • Confident working with multidisciplinary teams and engaging with service stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical skills, report writing, and understanding of public-sector estate management standards.
