Interim Head of Housing Technology
Location: London
Contract: Interim (6 months, with potential extension)
Day Rate: £600 per day (Inside IR35)
We are seeking an experienced and forward‑thinking technology leader to join a London local authority as their Interim Head of Housing Technology. This is a high‑impact role providing strategic direction across Housing IT, major system improvements, and the delivery of a technology roadmap aligned to organisational priorities.
About the Interim Head of Housing Technology role:
- Provide strategic leadership for all Housing IT functions, ensuring systems are robust, secure and delivering maximum value.
- Lead the development and delivery of a forward‑thinking technology roadmap to support transformation across Housing services.
- Oversee governance, assurance and delivery for a portfolio of housing system projects, upgrades and integrations.
- Act as the senior escalation point for all Housing IT operational performance, ensuring high‑quality service delivery to internal users and frontline teams.
- Manage supplier and contract relationships with key providers such as NEC, Civica, Advanced and other housing tech partners, ensuring value for money and contract compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement in reporting, data quality, automation and use of business intelligence tools across Housing.
- Lead, inspire and develop a multidisciplinary Housing IT team, embedding a culture of accountability, collaboration and innovation.
- Engage senior stakeholders, Members and external partners through accurate, timely and impactful reporting.
Your previous experience as an Interim Head of Housing Technology:
- Proven senior‑level experience leading Housing IT, Housing Systems or Digital Transformation within a local authority or large housing provider.
- Strong background in major housing management systems (e.g., NEC, Civica, Capita, Northgate/NEC, DRS, mobile working solutions).
- Demonstrable experience delivering system upgrades, integrations, procurement exercises and technology‑led service improvements.
- Strong leadership credentials with experience managing multi‑disciplinary teams in a complex public sector environment.
- Excellent understanding of data governance, reporting frameworks, system security and business continuity.
- A track record of managing suppliers, contracts and performance to ensure high‑quality, value‑driven outcomes.
- Politically aware, collaborative, and able to build trusted relationships across senior leadership and operational teams.
