This role will focus on the delivery of complex estates casework, with a particular emphasis on property transfers and disposals, ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements while supporting the Council’s long-term asset and development strategies.

You will manage transactions end-to-end, from advising on value and strategy through to legal completion, for individual assets with values up to circa £1m.

About the Senior Estates Surveyor role:

  • Manage a defined asset portfolio including commercial properties, strategic land, and development opportunities.
  • Lead on property disposals, acquisitions, and transfers, ensuring compliance with Section 123 of the Local Government Act 1972.
  • Deliver the Council’s transfer and disposal programmes efficiently and compliantly.
  • Contribute to asset class reviews and development of asset strategies.
  • Undertake options appraisals for surplus and community assets supported by feasibility and viability assessments.
  • Oversee marketing and letting of vacant properties, ensuring strong governance and tenant selection.

 
Your experience as a Senior Estates Surveyor:

  • Strong background in estates and property management within a Local Authority environment.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering property transfers and disposals.
  • MRICS qualified (or working towards).
  • Solid understanding of landlord and tenant law and commercial lease negotiations.
  • Ability to manage complex workloads at pace and under pressure.
  • Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
