Early Years Transformation Lead

Rate: £450–£500 per day
Working Style: Hybrid – 3 days on site per week
Location: London
Contract: 6 Months (potential sign off for 12)

Directorate: People – Children & Adults | Division: Education & SEND

A strategic Early Years leader is required to drive a major transformation programme for children aged 0–5, with a strong focus on inclusion, quality, and improved outcomes for children with SEND and those facing disadvantage.

The Role

  • Lead the development and delivery of a co-produced Early Years and SEND strategy.
  • Drive system-wide improvement, innovation, and integrated working across Early Years services.
  • Strengthen multi-disciplinary approaches and joint commissioning with partners.
  • Improve access to support and ensure families experience a seamless Early Years offer.
  • Oversee quality improvement, workforce development, and inclusive practice across settings.
  • Use data and performance frameworks to target need, allocate SENIF funding, and reduce inequalities.
  • Ensure compliance with EYFS, SEND, safeguarding and statutory duties.

About You

  • Strong leadership experience in Early Years or SEND.
  • Proven track record of service transformation and partnership working.
  • Excellent communication, strategic planning, and change management skills.
  • Confident in using data to drive decision-making and improvement.
  • Committed to equity, inclusion, and child-centred practice.
  • Degree in Early Years/Education/Child Development (essential).
