Reporting into the SEN Team Manager, you will play a key role in supporting families, carers and education settings to ensure children and young people with SEND receive the right support to thrive. You will manage the Statutory Assessment and Review process for learners aged 0–25 with EHCPs, working collaboratively with schools, professionals and families to determine the best way forward. A major focus of this role will be supporting the statutory phase transfer process to meet the February 2026 deadline, alongside annual review processing.
 
Your Role as the SEN Case Officer:

  • Administrate and manage the Statutory Assessment and Review process for children and young people aged 0–25 with SEND.
  • Support families, carers and education settings (from nursery to post-16/19 providers) in meeting the needs of learners with EHCPs.
  • Liaise with schools, education professionals and other stakeholders to ensure appropriate provision is identified.
  • Lead on the statutory phase transfer process to meet February 2026 deadlines.
  • Support the SEN team in timely and compliant annual review processing.
  • Represent the Local Authority within Children’s Education Services for the Statutory Assessment Service.
  • Prioritise workloads effectively, maintaining high standards in case management.

 
Your Experience as an SEN Case Officer:

  • In-depth experience working directly within SEN, such as in a school, Local Authority or other education, health or care service.
  • Strong understanding of statutory SEN legislation, statutory processes and the EHCP pathway.
  • Relevant degree-level qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience working in or with education settings in a professional capacity.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with families, schools, professionals and colleagues.
  • Highly organised, proactive and able to manage a busy caseload to statutory timescales.
  • A team player who is dynamic, hard-working and able to adapt in a fast-moving environment.
