Interim Clerk of Works – Housing & Compliance (x2 Roles)
Start Date: Mid September
Contract Length: Minimum 6 months (Strong view to extend)
Rate: £300 – £400 per day
IR35 Status: Inside IR35
Location: South West of England
We’re currently seeking two experienced Clerk of Works professionals to support a high-profile Decent Homes Programme, with a strong focus on quality assurance, compliance, and sign-off across kitchen, bathroom, and wider upgrade works.
About the Roles:
These are hands-on, field-based roles with 90% of time spent on-site, ensuring works meet required standards and are delivered to specification. You’ll be reporting into a Senior Project Manager and working closely with contractors, internal teams, and stakeholders. You’ll also be responsible for maintaining inspection records, producing site reports, and contributing to project control systems.
Role 1: Fabric-Focused Clerk of Works
• Membership of a recognised Clerk of Works professional body
• Strong housing sector experience
• Proven track record in fabric inspections, snagging, and sign-off
• Excellent understanding of compliance, policies, and procedures
• Ability to monitor contractor performance and escalate risks
• Familiarity with construction-related Health & Safety legislation and British Standards
Role 2: M&E-Focused Clerk of Works
• Membership of a recognised Clerk of Works professional body
• Experience in mechanical, electrical, and gas systems
• Familiarity with boilers, electric heaters, and related installations
• Strong troubleshooting and stakeholder coordination skills
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and advise contractors on-site
• Understanding of construction-related Health & Safety legislation and British Standards
