Reporting into the Fair Access and Admissions Manager, you will work with and liaise with the Fair Access & In Year Lead and Strategic Lead –Admissions to ensure statutory responsible are being met in respect of admissions. You will be responsible for giving advice to officers on cases, dealing with cases requiring a more senior response and advising when cases need referring to the Fair Access & In Year Lead for guidance or action.  To assist the Fair Access & In Year Lead in the implementation of policy statutory requirements and areas relating to admissions, including the In Year and Fair Access process in accordance with the locally agreed co-ordinated scheme. You will have worked within a local authority setting previously across School Admissions/Fair Access and have managed or assisting in managing staff previously.

Your Role as In-Year Team Lead:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of work in the Team, in relation to In Year and Fair Access processes to ensure accurate and timely completion of the process.
  • Responsible for the daily workloads of the Admissions Officers working on In Year allocations.
  • Responsible for assisting the Fair Access & In Year Lead in the effective co-ordination and allocation of in year applications, including analysis of data to inform policy development and the day-to-day operational management of Admission Officers’ work in relation to the in-year admissions process.
  • Responsible for effective liaison with senior school staff to ensure the best possible outcome; using initiative, negotiation, and advocacy skills to secure places for vulnerable children and support the Fair Access & In Year Lead in the area of Fair Access, including deputising in their absence at FAP meetings.

Your previous experience as an In-Year Team Lead – Admissions:

  • In-depth experience at a team lead/managerial level both operational functions and strategic service needs
    •Broad and deep experience of School Admissions practice and appeals process
    •Must demonstrate a high level of operational experience in a Local Authority setting
