Who are you and what is your purpose?

I am Ailidh van Wyk – As AD of Client Engagement, my role is to ensure our service offering is fit for purpose and create further engagement with our clients to support and champion the communities in which we place.

My role is to support our consultants by providing regular insights to further professional development and promote growth across our team. I aim to build long-lasting relationships with Local Authorities in order to work as a strategic recruitment partner, making a difference to our communities across Education, Children & Adult Social Care.

What has been your greatest achievement (personal or professional)?

My greatest personal achievement is being able to buy my first home at the age of 25, with it being so difficult to get on the property ladder for so many these days, I was delighted when we got the keys to our first home – without Baltimore, I couldn’t have done that so quickly!

My greatest professional achievement has to be reaching Associate Director level, I love getting to see hard work pay off and my team flourish, we have now won team of the year over 3 times!

What advice would you give other leaders out there?

I think trusting in your own conviction is important; it is easy to get lost in other’s opinions or your own anxieties. However, don’t be afraid to ask for help and take each day as it comes, and always remain disciplined.

Who inspires you? And why?

I would have to say my mother, she has always instilled a strong work ethic in me from a young age and was so successful in her own right but never let her family life slip either. She’s amazing!

Favourite Food

If I could die in a bath of macaroni cheese, I would be a happy gal.

What’s your leadership superpower?

My superpower is communication, I like to work in a way that is transparent, diplomatic and empathetic to those around me. I strive for positive communication in order to drive my own personal development and my teams.
